Where To Find Me
Hello again! Its been crazy busy and scary ever since
Gibraltar closed but I have been able to find some shows to do and
I am also working on trying to get some shows going with all us vendors.
On Saturday, October 28, I will be at the Harvest
Holistic Fair at the Milford High School. The show runs from 10am
to 6pm. Some of the vendors from Gibraltar will be there too.
Saturday, November 4 I will be at the Ann
Arbor Women's Expo from 10am to 5pm at the Washtenaw County
Fairgrounds in Ann Arbor. I will be sharing this space with Kristin
Joy Life.
On Saturday, November 18, I'll be at Radiant
Beings Psychic Fair. from 11am to 5pm. This is held at the
VFW post in Romeo, I did this one in September also. Its kinda hard
to find but its a nice little show again with a few other Gibraltar
vendors.
And you can always find me on FaceBook, the first
place I post about things I create. Its the quickest way to catch
up because as you may have noticed, I'm not that great at sending
these newsletters (something I am really going to work on).
I'd Like to Teach the World To....
I am pleased to announce that I am offering classes.
Over the years I've had people ask about how to make things and so
now I'm going to give it a go.
I have not found anywhere to hold the classes so for
right now I'll do them at my house or yours, which means I can offer
either groups or individual classes. I don't have an official schedule,
working on that, so I'm flexible on when. More details to come. Be
sure to check out the Classes Page for
updates.
One of my ideas, that I have had for a long time,
is Art Of The Tarot. In this class we would look at the artwork
of many decks to compare and discuss how this relates to the traditional
meaning. And in the process get a better understanding of the cards.
Classes will be 2 hours long, one card an hour, and the course will
run for 11 weeks to cover the Major Arcana of the tarot deck. I'd
like to begin on November 6 so contact me as soon as possible
to sign up.
Other ideas are Create Your Own Pendulum, Melt
and Pour Soap Making, and maybe some jewelry classes.
Please let me know if you are interested, either now or in the future.
Also let me know if there is something you would like me to offer.
I'm open to ideas.
Mystical Magical Ginseng
So I've been saying how I just couldn't get motivated.
How depressed I felt, how tired I've been. I had stuff to do, I wanted
to get stuff done, I'd plan out my day....but then waste it and sit
around....then stress myself out getting mad because I didn't do anything.
I'd tell myself I'd do better tomorrow but then.....same thing would
happen. And I was having panic attacks wondering how I was going to
pay the bills.
I started noticing some physical symptoms and started
trying some stuff to correct it. The thing that seemed to do the trick
was ginseng. I used to take it when I was younger. I loved
ginseng tea. I even found a liquid form and took that for a while.
I don't remember why I stopped. Maybe I felt it wasn't helping anymore.
Maybe I couldn't afford it. I know I was unable to find it in the
form I liked.
Since I started taking it again, I have more energy.
I'm getting a lot more done every day. In fact I'm finding it harder
to slow down and rest. My mind seems clearer too. I'm having less
negative thoughts and I'm able to look forward without all the self
doubt that has been holding me back. I've still had a couple panic
attacks but they are way less often.
So what is ginseng? Panax ginseng is
an ancient Taoist tonic herb that has been used in Chinese medicine
for 5000 years. It is a perennial plant with a branched aromatic root,
which the Chinese thought looked like a man. It both relaxes and stimulates
the nervous system, improves stamina, boosts immune system, helps
regulate hormones, and can lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
It helps with menopausal symptoms, male infertility, and erectile
dysfunction. It stimulates the libido in both men and women. It is
thought to be an overall tonic for the entire body.
Studies are being done to see if it lowers cancer
risk and it has proven to help combat the effects of radiation therapy.
It is recommended to use for 6 weeks then take a break,
as excess can cause headaches or high blood pressure. Do not take
ginseng if you are taking blood thinning medications or 2 weeks
before surgery as it is know to have anti-clotting effects on the
blood. Ginseng is a stimulant so it will enhance other stimulants
like caffine so don't take more than recommended.
Do not take ginseng if you have asthma, high blood
pressure, or cardiac arrhythmia. Use with caution if you have insommia,
hay fever, or fibrocystic breasts.
Panax ginseng, (Chinese or Korean ginseng),
is native to Korea and NE China, while panax quinquefolius, (American
ginseng), is native to eastern N. America. They are very similar
but sightly different. Both seem to have the same healing uses but
Chinese ginseng is ususally better for anyone over 40 and American
ginseng is better for anyone younger than 40.
The suppliment I'm taking is a capsule with dried
root of 4 types of ginseng: red chinese ginseng (panax ginseng),
Korean ginseng (panax ginseng), American ginseng (panax
quinquefolius), and eleuthero (eleutherococcus senticosus).
I bought it at Better Health but any health food store should carry
it. Be sure it is the dried root, best in a capsule as a tablet is
more adulterated.
So what is eleuthero? It is sometimes called
Siberian ginseng. The plant looks nothing like ginseng but
they belong to the same botanical family and both are adaptogens.
They have very similiar benefits to the human body. Altho native to
China, Japan, and Russia, it was ignored until 1947 when a Russian
scientist started studying adaptogens and discovered eleuthero's similarities
to ginseng. The benefits and cautions are the same too.
If you decide to try ginseng yourself, please be
sure to check with your physician if you are taking any medications
as there can be reaction between some herbs and medicines.
Blessed be,
